In the ruins of 1945 Berlin, Susanne Wallner returns to her home after living in a concentration camp for three years only to find another man squatting in her apartment. At first Dr. Hans Mertens refuses to vacate her apartment; but after they come to a temporary understanding, the two begin to come to terms with the terrors of the past years. When Hans discovers that Ferdinand Brückner, his former commanding officer and a notorious war criminal, has also returned to Berlin, Hans and Susanne will have to learn to trust each other in order to confront the terrors of the present.  Die Mörder sind unter uns (1946) was one of the first films made and released in Germany after WWII. 91 min.
