UW Germanics major, Basil Havens, shares a blog about his adventures studying abroad in Germany

Basil writes, "Hello everyone! As an undergraduate in the German Express program in Autumn Quarter and then in Winter Quarter, I had the splendid opportunity to spend a semester in Germany. All of the possibilities looked great, but I chose to study in Heidelberg because of the course curriculum, the long history, and the beautiful sights. I’m double majoring in Germanics and European Studies, so this has definitely been a great fit. In my attempt to expand my limited German skills I decided to start a blog with the goal of posting in German too. At the moment I’m chronicling the excursions I take. The photo shown here was taken on such a trip to Weimar, Thüringen. The figures are of Goethe and Schiller standing together. Behind them is the German National Theater where the constitution for the Weimar Republic was signed. For me, visiting historic places like this and walking in the footsteps of historical figures is inspirational!

Thanks for checking it out."
