Germanics Hosts Second Mentoring Lunch for Undergrads

Submitted by Stephanie N. Welch on

We are very happy to announce another successful “mentoring lunch” with a Germanics alum and current majors. On March 3, Alex Minami (class of 2010) joined five Germanics students for a chat over sandwiches at the UW club.  Alex is director of operations at a language-learning NGO for underprivileged youth in Seattle (you can read more about him here).  Present were five of our bright young seniors and juniors: Libby Strickland, Alex Phengsavath, Mackenzie Sepler, Sarah Dietderich, and Ryan Carlson. The students briefly introduced themselves and listened as Alex imparted sage advice about preparing for the future. They expressed gratitude to Alex for sharing his time and experience, and to the Germanics department for the good food!
