Julius Rodriguez is a Max Kade Graduate Fellow and first-year MA student in the UW Department of Germanics. He earned his Bachelor’s in Gender, Women and Sexuality Studies at the University of Washington and works at Seattle Colleges in student life and multicultural programs. He is currently designing and implementing co-curricular programming at North Seattle College and has previously been a research assistant at the UW School of Public Health.

Julius migrated to the U.S. twelve years ago after growing up in both East and West Germany and spending a year abroad in New Zealand. He has extensive work experience in theater and Higher Education and enjoys working with diverse groups of students. His volunteer work includes serving on screening committees with 3 Dollar Bill Cinema and reviewing grants and scholarships for GSBA/Pride Foundation.

His current research interests are concerned with East German literature and film, in particular LGBTQ+ representations in East German writing and film pre- versus post-Reunification.
