Word Division within Gothic Consonant Clusters

Charles Barrack. Word Division within Gothic Consonant Clusters. 2011.

This data base on Excel presents a tally of the word breaks across internuclear consonant clusters in the following fragments of Ulfilas’ Bible translation into Gothic, as transcribed and edited by Uppström (1854-1868): the Codex Argenteus and the Codices Gotici Ambrosiani, as well as the fragments of the Skeireins aiwaggeljons þairh iohannen (Commentary on the Gospel of John) as transcribed, edited, and translated by Bennett (1960). It also includes the one word with a divided internuclear cluster in the “New Leaf” of the Argenteus as transcribed, edited, and translated by Szemerényi (1972).

See the PDF file attached below for an explanation of the motivation behind this tally and a guide to using the data, in addition to the data itself.
